Responsibilities:
- Lead the full design process for sweaters, including concept, sketching, fabric/yarn selection, technical packages, and revisions.
- Design and develop seasonal assortments for private label clients and in-house collections, ensuring alignment with brand identity and customer needs.
- Execute both fully fashioned knits and cut-and-sew knitwear with a deep understanding of yarn gauges, stitch techniques, and garment construction.
- Conduct ongoing market and trend research to stay ahead of seasonal color, silhouette, and material trends.
- Develop mood boards, color stories, and seasonal concepts in collaboration with the design and merchandising teams.
- Partner closely with technical design, merchandising, and overseas factories to ensure design integrity and fit through all stages of development.
- Collaborate with sales and production teams to meet timelines, margin targets, and client expectations.
- Attend fittings and provide creative solutions to maintain design aesthetics while addressing fit and production needs.
- Interpret customer line plans and retailer-specific design needs into elevated and trend-right collections.
- Participate in client meetings, presenting design concepts, trend overviews, and samples as needed.
- Create and maintain tech packs, CADs, and BOMs (Bill of Materials).
- Track and manage design workflow from initial concept through production-ready hand-off.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fashion design, specifically in Missy or Contemporary Women’s Apparel.
- Strong portfolio with a clear emphasis on sweater design, including both fully fashioned and cut-and-sew.
- Experience designing for private label accounts is required.
- Excellent understanding of garment construction, yarn and knit structure, and fit.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), PLM/PDM systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple collections simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred.
- Flexible schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
