JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Account Director, the Account Manager plays a key role in supporting media relations efforts for international clients. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day client communication across multiple accounts, building strong relationships, and ensuring successful execution of strategic initiatives. The Account Manager leads client and team meetings, oversees high-profile events, and supervises a team of account executives and coordinators.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Build and lead effective teams by setting clear goals, troubleshooting challenges, maintaining regular communication with direct reports, and ensuring account profitability.
  • Develop strong client relationships by providing strategic guidance, demonstrating strong project management skills, and effectively executing account work.
  • Create and implement outreach strategies for press, influencers, and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and oversee yearly outreach calendars, ensuring alignment with client objectives.
  • Craft strategic pitches for media coverage, engage with journalists and outlets to secure placements, and negotiate exclusives.
  • Guide and support team members in executing media outreach, maintaining quality standards, and achieving client goals.
  • Review and refine pitches to ensure messaging accuracy and strategic targeting; provide alternative outreach strategies when needed.
  • Train and mentor team members in competitive research, media landscape expansion, and identifying new press opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with media contacts through email, phone, and in-person meetings.
  • Develop, review, and distribute press materials with a focus on accuracy and impact.
  • Respond promptly to media inquiries and interview requests.
  • Oversee the tracking of client media coverage and related industry news.
  • Plan and execute media events, including:
    • Concept development, vendor coordination, and guest list curation
    • Run-of-show creation and briefing materials
    • On-site event management and media relations
    • Coordination with photographers and influencers for social media coverage
  • Train and supervise Account Executives and Coordinators, providing clear direction and meaningful feedback.
  • Lead onboarding for new team members, introducing job responsibilities, training materials, and account objectives.

Working Conditions:
This role is primarily remote, with in-person client meetings, media engagements, and events taking place throughout the year. The Account Manager may be required to travel for client events and occasionally work outside of standard business hours. Use of project management, time tracking, and CRM software is an integral part of the role.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of public relations experience with a portfolio of media placements
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and take a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Strong leadership skills and professionalism in client and team interactions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Mac, MS Office Suite, Keynote, and media tools such as Muck Rack (experience with Harvest is a plus)
  • Fluency in a foreign language is a plus
