It’s our favorite time of year here at JBC! We are participating in the 6th Annual Holiday of Hope program at P.S. 306 a Title 1 school in the Bronx. The Holiday of Hope program is put on by the Ira Zaslow Foundation which makes a positive impact to over 1,000 children each year. Our offices globally choose to participate in this meaningful event to make this community’s holiday experience a memorable one.
What is The Ira Zaslow Foundation’s Holiday of Hope?
Holiday of Hope is an Ira Zaslow Foundation program established to provide children of Ira’s childhood community with a safe and encouraging environment to grow and play in, to acknowledge children who excel in academics and sports and to promote peace, fairness and understanding among all cultures in our community. The foundation honors a native New Yorker who was taken from us during the attacks of 9/11 here in NY. Bryan Zaslow, Ira’s oldest son, started the foundation to honor his father and impact the underserved children of New York City.
The Holiday of Hope program happens annually at PS 306 in the Bronx bringing the holiday spirit to life for over 1,000 children in this underserved community. The foundation provides a morning of activities at the school along with Santa, his elves, snowmen, reindeer and holiday presents. The intention of this event is to provide every child with the hope and recognition that there is a world available to them outside of their current environment and people who want to help them achieve in it.
PS 306 was chosen by the foundation based on its geo/demographic data. Ira Zaslow grew up in this area and its population is currently under the poverty line. “There is nothing my father would have wanted more than to give each of these children hope and a vision for the future beyond the confines of the world they live in each day and a dream for something larger,” said, Bryan Zaslow, founder of the Ira Zaslow Foundation.
