Full Time, Monday – Friday (Tues – Thurs onsite)
Duration: ASAP – Ongoing
Pay: $45/hr
Position Purpose and Scope: Engage in the daily functions of the Luxury Sweaters Women’s Collection design department from the initial concepts, research and development, through line completion/production.
Key Responsibilities: The main objective for this temporary position is to create tech packs and stitch layouts for Collection sweaters.
Additional responsibilities may include
- Provide design and fabric inspiration and execution for Sweaters
- Collaborate Head of Design to identify big ideas, key trends, and relevant silhouettes
- Research and development of new swatches and patterns for presentation and line development
- Research and execution of product and design vision from fabric, sketch/design creation, and trim direction
- Extensive competitive market research and shopping including luxury, vintage, and warehouse/library
- Design inspirational protos for both seasonal concept and long-term product development
- Prepare digital and physical presentations (Sketches, color ups, fabrics)
- Execution of flat sketches, detail illustrations, and reference garments for Tech Packs
- Create layouts for patterns, stitches, and graphics
- Develop and maintain daily communications with cross functional teams in New York & Italy
- Adhere to and meet Design calendar deadlines
Requirements
- Strong sketching and design capability
- Extensive knowledge of knitwear/sweater design, yarns/gauges, experience with European mills and factories a plus
- Knowledge and understanding of fit and construction
- Ability to capture and create the Collection Brand aesthetic, understanding of luxury sweaters market
- Resourceful, creative, and efficient when faced with multiple projects and challenging deadlines
- Proven verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and develop strong relationships with key partners
- Extremely proficient in Adobe Illustrator, technical sketches, and detail diagrams
- Ability to work and communicate design ideas both in person and digitally in a hybrid work environment
