Freelance Menswear Designer

Job Title: Menswear Designer, Cut & Sew Knits
Duration: 3+ months – potential to go perm
Hours:  35-40 hours a week
Location: New York City /4 Days on site, 1 day work from home
Pay: $30-32

We are looking for a Menswear Designer with Cut & Sew Knit expertise, great taste, experience in men’s design and a sharp understanding of the target market to execute a current and elevated, high quality fashion style vision each season for our value consumer.
Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the design process from concept, color, and silhouette to product execution.
• Actively shop the local market to identify the most current trends in color, fabric, trim, silhouette, graphic / prints using creative skills to translate effectively and create a mix and match assortment
• Responsible for thorough market research including competitive analysis and benchmarking
• Ensure the product is consistent with overall market trends and brand identity.
• Direct and collaborate with design & print/graphics team to execute a clear, elevated vision each season
• Execute trend presentations each season including creative sample rigging, mood boards and theme direction, and any other presentation material as needed with direction from VP of Design and Merchandiser
• Work with sample room and local vendors to create sample presentations as required by meeting deliverable
• Work with technical team and production team to approve and ensure quality/fit of all product
• Initiate and actively participate in the development of concepts and cut & sew product categories

Required Skills:
 

• 5+ years related work experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, Fine Arts
• Strong computer skills including proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, and sketching
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Cut & Sew Knit Design expertise a must!
• Strong merchandising, concept, color, design aesthetic
• Strong conceptual graphics and print sensibility
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
