Title: Licensing Compliance Consultant

Hourly Range: 36-37/hr

Hourly rate is commensurate with experience and is an estimated range provided by JBC.
 

POSITION TITLE: Licensing Compliance Consultant

DEPARTMENT: Global Consumer Products Business Operations

Principal Responsibilities – Royalty Compliance:

  • Review contracts for financial terms and compare them to royalty statements to ensure compliance.
  • Trace financials through the contract lifecycle to identify and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Provide guidance to internal teams on correcting entry errors preventing statement processing.
  • Assist licensees in resubmitting statements with errors preventing processing.
  • Troubleshoot access issues for licensees unable to access our system.
  • Address inquiries from Finance and offshore royalty reporting teams.
  • Complete ad hoc special projects and provide management reporting as required.

Principal Responsibilities – Cash Collections/Compliance:

  • Reach out to licensees to collect and resolve open AR balances and royalty compliance issues.
  • Maintain collection reason codes for accurate identification of open receivables status.
  • Monitor expected cash from licenses to ensure timely receipt.
  • Manage internal and external ad-hoc requests related to invoice account balances.
  • Act as the point person for all withholding tax certificates, ensuring timely submission to tax authorities.
  • Assist cash application team in resolving unapplied payments.
  • Provide support to Sales Team and Finance Department as needed.
  • Play an active role during month-end close processes.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of General Accounting Principles (royalty accounting knowledge is a plus).
  • Ability to trace issues to their root cause and understand their final impact.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and understanding contracts.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities.
  • Proactive mindset with a knack for providing creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to see the big picture and collaborate on cross-divisional projects.
  • Capacity to multitask and manage diverse projects and assignments independently and collaboratively.

Experience/Knowledge:

  • 3-5 years of relevant global licensing industry experience.
  • Background in operations finance, accounting, and operations management preferred.

Education/Background:

  • B.A. or B.S. in Business or Finance.
