The holiday season is just around the corner and this time of year, thoughts of traveling, spending time with family and friends, exchanging gifts, and sharing stories over bountiful feasts come to mind.  Over here at the JBC offices, the best feeling comes from being able to spread the holiday cheer, if only for a moment, to others whom are just as deserving of the holiday memories we cherish, but may not possess the necessary means in which to do so.

Last year, with three Santa Clauses in tow, and the JBC crew in a big yellow school bus, we visited P.S. 306, a K-5 Title 1 school in the Bronx, and delivered toys to 747 boys and girls. These boys and girls, a large majority of whom have no place to call home, residing in shelters with a parent or guardian, are unable to enjoy three meals a day, and this time of year, a Christmas tree and any semblance of a gift or holiday cheer is scarce.

The warmth they receive each day is from the amazing teachers at P.S. 306 and the school that brings each student a warm meal, a platform of opportunity and a staff of exceptional people who care.  We were able to acquire enough toys in a matter of seven days through donations from friends, family, colleagues, and generous individuals who supported our cause.  We had a goal, and with your help, we made it happen.

This year, our goal is to continue to spread the joy of the holidays and once again, we need your help.  Prior to our trip to P.S. 306 this December, we are proud to host a fundraising event to benefit the second annual Holiday of Hope Toy Drive.  The event will take place on November 13 at Chelsea Manor in New York City featuring an open bar sponsored by Voli Vodka, a silent auction, a digital photo station, and a special presentation.

Tickets to the event are $30 in advance and $40 at the door with 100% of net proceeds going towards purchasing toys and hosting a winter carnival for the students on the day of our arrival.  There are also opportunities to make a monetary donation if you are unable to attend or if you would like to be an event sponsor by purchasing one of our sponsorship packages.  We are also accepting items for our silent auction.  To RSVP, purchase tickets or a sponsorship package, please visit our Eventbrite site at holidayofhopetoydrive.eventbrite.com.  To donate an item to our silent auction, please email us here.
