Title Temp Customs Compliance Associate
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: ongoing with perm potential
Location: Piscataway, NJ
Hourly Rate: $35 – $40 an hour
Responsibilities:
- Train European partners in US customs compliance requirements
- File Protests in collaboration with external partners
- Bridge between Customs & that of other departments (identify compliance risks & efficiency opportunities)
- Create classification compliance manual which will form the backbone of the Compliance program.
- In tandem with the Supply Chain Compliance Teammate, ensure that all products that include special materials have required documentation and details required prior to import for proper declaration to associated government agency.
- – Fish and Wildlife materials
- – FDA details (cosmetics, sunglasses, etc.)
- – Special Requirements for Wood (TSCA, Lacey Act)
- Customs Line Reviews for all Divisions
- Complete classification and research required for all inbound product in line with US Customs Regulations and HTS Chapter Notes.
- Understanding of General Rules of Interpretation & Customs Classification Rulings to research & assign proper HTS numbers to merchandise.
- Proper internal recordkeeping of all supplier details.
- Communications and enforcement of lines reviews to brand Customs Brokers.
- Manage textile shoe ordering & testing for compliant classification.
- Single point of contact for all Boutique and Press export support.
- Watch and Fine Jewelry High Jewelry Loans Program
- Generate export proforma invoices for High Jewelry loans in coordination with the internal duty drawback expert.
- Communication and collaboration with global customs compliance teams related to product classification, manufacturing processes, and special materials as well as solutioning recurrent inbound customs concerns.
- Responsible for providing details for all Customs Form 28 requests (official customs inquiries).
- Resolve import shipment issues with forwarder / custom broker by providing required instruction, documentation, product information / classification, etc.
Qualifications:
- Experience working in fashion importing
- Knowledge of Microsoft systems
- Licensed Customs Broker
- 3-5 years of fashion classification experience
- LCB preferred
- Must have fashion classification experience
- Must have experience with Fish & Wildlife Services import
- Must have experience filing Protests
- Must have experience responding to CF-28 inquiries
