Location: New York, NY Onsite 5 days in-office
Responsibilities: The Photo Editor will be in charge of the images for multiple book projects from start to finish. The Photo editor will work closely with designers and editors to ensure the execution of the project deliverable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather comprehensive photo research
- Maintain a clear and organized archive for each book
- Clear rights and permissions for all images
- Clear rights with artists and models, as necessary
- Negotiate rates and maintain photo budgets
- Acquire and manage high-resolution files
- Contract photographers for original work
- Draft credits and acknowledgements
Requirements:
- Strong visual, communication and organizational skills.
- Able to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Attention to schedules and deadlines.
- Expertise in Excel and the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Bridge)
- High-level familiarity with fine arts and artists, photographers, film, social culture and subjects pertaining to Assouline’ s publishing list.
- Exceptional research skills –knowledge of varied image sources (stock agencies, museums, artist’s catalogs, archives, historical societies)
- Experience managing photo budgets and processing invoices and contracts
- Knowledge of copyright, licenses, and permissions
- Able to multi-task and work well under pressure
- Must have knowledge in subjects ranging from fashion, design, and art; to travel and lifestyle.
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 base
Salary is commensurate with experience and is an estimated range provided by JBC.
